make sure to boar out the spring housing for the slide .. i have seen those springs get caught up after machining..

You also have to make sure you don’t use the Subaru gasket.

The Subaru also has an open deck block surface. The cylinders sink, I've seen as much as .004" on a "good" block

Just picked one of these up yesterday and wasnt expecting a lot, but WOW these are great. Especially for old iron heads. Like you said all the accuracy is in the tooling, which is why they are still doing a good job to this day.
